History, Biography & Discography
A metropolitan of the home of the Cheesesteaks, Tastykakes and the legendary Rocky Balboa, 29 year-old Philadelphian artist Wiles Martyr is currently making his own indelible mark on the City of Brotherly Love. Growing up in various parts of the South, namely Virginia and Louisiana, has made a distinct influence on his all-around style.
Wiles also cites a number of legendary artists including Wu-Tang Clan, MF Doom, Pimp C, OutKast, Nas, Black Thought, Earth, Wind, and Fire, the Notorious B.I.G., Max B, Curtis Mayfield, and The Clipse as continuous sources of inspiration.
These influences are easily displayed on his debut album Unlucky Matters, a 15-track project produced by a band of brothers from Richmond,Virginia, Unlucky Bastards and Graymatter.

Following the release of his inaugural project in 2015, Sixblox, an EP with authentic Philadelphia sound produced by Brooklyn Taylor. Then after a brief stint in “Sugar City” Louisiana, Wiles returned to Philadelphia in early 2018 & subsequently began recording his 1st full length Album.
The project began initially as an effort put forth exclusively between Wiles and producer Unlucky Bastards. The pair began working on singles such as “Indy1500” and “Liquid” and later brought in Unlucky Bastard’s brother, producer Graymatter, to finish off the long-awaited album which was predominantly recorded with Krouse.
Ironically, during these sessions Wiles was going through some Unlucky Matters of his own, involving poverty, numerous funerals and relationship troubles – tribulations that were channeled directly into the lyrics of his first full length project to present an album as forthright and transparent as Wiles Martyr himself. Unlucky Matters is an intoxicating elixir of raw elements, an amalgam of cohesive song structure, an unmistakable flow pattern, and a propensity for witty story-telling.
Wiles Martyr and his team independently distribute projects under Philadelphia based Scary Hours, a cassette company/multimedia renaissance group. Currently Wiles, a polymath with a penchant for the game of chess, is back in the studio working on a number of other projects that will be out in the near future. Check out his most recent bodies of work entitled STYLE POINTZ V1 & CIRCA WEALTH II.
